About 59.7 percent of Americans are white, the rest are people of color, hispanic, and other races. In America there are many people and they all have different backgrounds. But soon, the amount of people that are from different places and races will be pretty common. White people will no longer be at the top like a hero. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, black people aren’t treated fairly and go through many injustices. They have people that need to stand up for everyone no matter their color or race. As shown by Maycomb’s unlikely saviors, heroes evolve from the situations into which they are placed, proving that true courage and bravery means risking oneself, often with modesty and humility, in order to benefit others.

One example is when Jem is trying to protect Scout when they get attacked by Mr. Ewell. Jem does what he can to protect Scout from an adult that is attacking them: “Run, Scout! Run! Run! (Lee 300) During this scene, Jem is fighting off Mr. Ewell to protect Scout. Jem knew he was coming after them, and he managed to get Mr. Ewell off of Scout and started to fight him. His priority was to protect Scout and also thought of trying to get help. Another example is the way that Jem is acting over the Tom Robison case. Jem gets upset over the Tom Robison case verdict: “his hand were white from gripping the balcony rail”(240). After the judge had announced the verdict, Jem got upset over the ruling. He had thought they were going to win this case, but after the ruling he had realized no matter what, they were going to lose to the white people. He had learned from this experience how privileged he was, he also learned that black folks cannot do anything against white people. The last example of Jem is when he tells Scout to not kill the roly poly bug. It is when Jem tells Scout to not kill the harmless bug: “Don’t do that Scout. Set him out on the back steps'' (Lee 271). Jem had told Scout to not kill the harmless bug, just like to not kill a mockingbird. He is acting like a role model to SCout, because he was using Atticus’ teachings. One example of Scout it's having a mature conversation with her teacher. Ss when Scout is above others is when she is talking to her teacher about the other students lifestyles: “Miss Caorline, he's Cunningham(22)”. Scout is talking to her teacher telling her about the other students' way of life. She is having a detailed conversation with her teacher. It shows she knows how others are and how they will act. Another example of Scout is when is trying to understand why it's wrong to defend a black person. is when Scout is trying to understand why it was so wrong for a person to defend a black person. She as a young child wondered why it’s so wrong to think and act that way. She is trying and maturing as she goes and is changing the way she is thinking. She is realizing that she is maturing from herself and with the help of others. The last example of Scout is when she tries to save Atticus from a Mob. is when Scout comes out of safety putting herself in danger to help Atticus:“Don't you touch him!”(173). She is seeing what is happening with the mob and Atticus, so went into danger to go help Atticus. She went out of her way to put herself into danger to help her father. She could have stayed hidden to protect herself, but she went out into that to go help Atticus. Scout is slowly getting more matured as time goes on, she is learning to be different from the
