This quote is saying because she is a white person that means that she will always win in court or get her way over a colored person. The people in the court say “that all Negroes lie, that all Negroes, men are not to be trusted…”. The quote is said, because that African Americans are liars that no one should trust or believe anything they say or do. Mayella most power is race because she is a white person and white people are the better people during this time.

In chapter 15, Heck Tate’s mob wanted to talk to Atticus that Tom Robinson have been moved to Maycomb Jail, and that there might be trouble concerning Atticus and Tom Robinson. It stated on page 165, “Mr. Tate was saying, “I don’t look for any trouble, but I can’t guarantee there won’t be any . . .” This show that as the trial are coming nearer, the people are getting more impatient, and this would cause them to act violence not only to the Negroes, but also to their fellow kind. This also show that prejudice can change a person point of view, and make them think only about their superiority over Negroes even though some of them are no better than the Negroes themselves, like the Ewell and the Cunningham.

The victim of this crime is Mayella Ewell and she’s white and a young girl. In the 1930s racism was a big factor in this case. Now does Mayella have more power because of race?

The story is told from through the eyes of Scout Finch, you learn about her father Atticus FInch who is an attorney who hopelessly strives to prove the innocence of a black man unjustly accused of rape; and about Boo Radley a mysterious neighbor who saves Scout and her brother Jem from being killed, because of her class and gender Mayella is powerless but, her race makes her powerful.

But because of her class and gender, Mayella, the woman who claimed rape, lacks power, but her race makes her powerful.

Bob Ewell is Mayella’s father who beats and rapes her,but makes Mayella accuse Tom Robinson.
The climax of this story is a rape trial that involves a Negro, Tom Robinson, and a white woman, Mayella Ewell. In the court’s eyes’ her power is clear, but is she that powerful? Because of her vulnerability as a woman and a very low-class status, she’s powerless, but her privilege as a white person in a racist society is very powerful. Mayella is powerless because of her gender. In the trial, it’s revealed that Mayella is physically, verbally, and sexually abused by her father.
Mayella must have been crestfallen most of her life because she never had any friends and never had a social life. But Mayella “looked as if she tried to keep clean” this includes keeping herself clean and her belongings like her little section in the garden. (Doc A) Since her father spends all his paychecks on liquor and never takes care of his children and house Mayella must try and keep clean by herself. This is sad to see because Mayella is restricted by what she can do because of her father's irresponsible spending habits that keep them in a low class and abusive household. Why To Kill A Mockingbird is a timeless classic Through the story of, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee is a mostly a classic due to Lee’s usage of sensory details to immerse the reader and propel the story along along with using characterization to make characters more relatable but falls short on appealing to a middle and upper-class demographic instead of just a poorer group when talking about the Ewell family. It is important for stories to create a rich world because that is much more enjoyable and immersive for the readers. Rich worlds are one of the number one categories for not only good books but also classics. It is also crucial for a timeless classic to be relatable so that readers are able to get hooked on a story.
