Healthy Parenting Parents should have healthy rules and boundaries set for the exact purpose of their children; this creates a healthy relationship between kids and their parents. In To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus is the father of Scout and Jem. Jem is 10 and Scout, whose real name is Jean Louise, is 6. Atticus models the way his children should act and behave. Atticus is against physical punishment and never yells, but he asks his children answers to complex sentences even if it is hard to say.
