American literature not only represents America itself, it represents the people that live in america and their freedom. American literature is so unique because it is derived from many different cultures, and has a unique setting, American literature almost always has an important theme, and it usually has an important author that took place in the story. A story is nothing without a setting. Setting is one of the most important traits in any type of literature but, in American literature it is even more crucial. For example, literature about the civil war would be nothing without the context of the battles that took place and where these battlegrounds were located.
