To kill a MockingBird is a novel that shows discrimination and all different kinds of stereotypes. The story takes place in the 30's during the Great Depression and uses a young girls view (scout) to show how bad it was and that these acts of discrimination had a bad affect on people. I believe that To kill a Mockingbird is still relevant today because many of the problems and things that happened in the book still happened today and although we are trying to stop discrimination by making new laws and enforcing them it still happeneds quite often. To Kill a Mockingbird still relates today because of Sexism, Racism and political injustices.

In the book it shows many acts of racism and discrimination towards black people. I'm some cases even if you weren't black but one of your relatives were then you would be treated with the same amount of disrespect. An example of this is when Jem and scout are talking about how they decide if they are coloured or not and that "Once you have a drop of negro blood, that makes you all black" Ch.16. They didn't fully understand this and were confused how one drop can over run someone and make them bad. Another example of racism is when people call other people who don't hate black people negro lovers. Atticus is talking to scout and tells her that " nigger-lover is just one of those terms that don't mean anything.... Ignorant, trashy people use
