Have you ever heard or seen someone being racist to somebody else? Well if you have you know it’s not right. In the book To Kill a Mockingbird, author Harper Lee uses unforgettable characters to explain civil rights and racism in the Southern United States of the 1930’s. I think that if schools took that book (To Kill a Mockingbird) I think people won't learn how racism hurts people. So I think that schools need to a requirement in school to read this book. To begin To Kill a Mockingbird needs to be taught in school is because it is a life lesson. For example Jem is a dynamic character and throughout the book you can really see how he has changed. For instance Jem had fought for his sister until he got knocked out (262). This shows us that he isn't just caring for himself but for other people. Also Jem didn't just stand up for his sister but he stood up for Boo Radley. He stood up to people and was fighting for Boo Radley because people thought he was going crazy by now (46-47). This is an example that he stood up for someone.
