In 2nd grade I was in a friend group called the Dolphin Club. We couldn’t do anything unless we were told to do it, and we couldn’t eat certain foods because the ‘leader’ didn’t like them. The leader was my best friend and I was her right hand. I did what I was told to do and eat what I was allowed to eat, I stayed in the club. But the club didn’t allow everyone and people felt excluded.The mob mentality is a real thing, that happens at every age. One person strongly believes in something and get people to join the cause and have only one goal. One subplot develops the idea of community through the mob that went to the jail that was holding Tom Robinson.The mob that has formed around the Jailhouse where Tom was being held, and the people in the mob want to hurt Tom without Heck Tate protect him. The thing is Atticus stayed at the Jailhouse to protect Tom rather than Heck. “ ‘ You know what we want,’ another man said,‘ Get aside from the door Mr. Finch.”(Lee 202) The men of the mob are trying to get Atticus away from the door so they can bust up the cell and hurt or kill Tom. Although the mob shows the mentality, of against the trusting word of Tom Robinson.The mob thought they would be doing the right thing, because they did not want him to hurt the other children, like Mayella.
