Raymond Kellar Mrs. Lawson English 10 8 May 2024 Racial Injustice The time period in which this book was written is well known for its racial injustice. Which is why Tom Robinson got wrongfully prosecuted and even killed. The book To Kill A Mockingbird is based in a little town in Alabama. Maycomb, this story takes place in the 1930s when African Americans were still being wrongfully treated. This was the case for Tom Robinson when he was accused of a crime he didn't commit. Because of his color, people believed this lie that he raped and punched Mayella. He didn't. On the date November 21st, 1934 Tom Robinson was on his way down the road by the Ewells field, as he does everyday. On this day, Mayella saw Tom and asked him to come inside the fence and that she had something for him to do inside. When he came inside, Mayella shut the door in his face and tricked him into getting a box when she then wrapped her arms around his legs. When this happened, Tom resisted and asked what she was doing, she then proceeded to jump on him and kiss him. After this, Tom frantically wanted out of the house and got out of there before he could see Bob Ewell punch Mayella. “She grabbed me around the legs, Mr. Finch.
