This quote shows that all jury’s pick whites as innocence before blacks even when whites have no evidence to prove innocence which then makes the trial an unfair trial since colored people were considered lower class than whites no black person has ever won a trial against a white person. Society influences everyone including the way blacks are being treated. It depends on the time period of which you could be affected by. (Lee 200 par. 11 ) This quote shows that Dolphus thinks that he need to pretend he is a drunk to explain to the rest of the town that that drinking is the reason he is white and he married a black woman and they have kids together. That is just sad that society wouldn’t just accept his decisions of marrying a black woman. During this time period, it was a sin for blacks and whites to have kids together. People thought that since the kids were half white and half black that they won’t fit in with black or white. That is wrong because since they are half black and half white they will be able to fit into both white and black groups. Society has influenced people in the year 2015 by saying that all women should be model size and all men should have ABS. Everyday people look at magazines with women who are models often makes others feel self-conscious when they aren’t as small nor pretty as the girls in the photos. Society also makes teens drink, smoke, and do drugs to be classified as cool and popular. Although I believe that it doesn’t matter how big or small you are, everyone is different and you shouldn’t have to smoke, drink, or do drugs to be in the cool
