Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” is another example of his lyrical genius in the music industry. The album was claimed as a masterpiece in the “Rolling Stone” magazine and that doesn’t even begin to describe how amazing the album is. The album was released on March 15, 2015 on Top Dawg Entertainment and Aftermath Entertainment, and was distributed by Interscope Records. “TPAB” was produced by Dr. Dre and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. In an interview with “Rolling Stone” magazine Lamar stated that, "Just putting the word 'pimp' next to 'butterfly'… It's a trip. That's something that will be a phrase forever. It was full of witty metaphors, life lessons and it has a very huge impact on the music industry. Kendrick Lamar is working his way up to becoming a hip-hop legend, but he still has a ways to go. People are saying his album is a “classic” and that’s not completely true. It is a very great album, but what we’ve got to realize is that it’s only his 2nd album. He hasn’t been around that long for anything of his to be a “classic” but give it a few more years I’m sure he’ll be just arriving at the top of the rap game. In fact in an interview on “The Breakfast Club” he stated that “I always told them, 'Listen to the music a few times, man, before we starting throwing words like that out. Don't do this on my behalf because I want you to live with it.' I don't want it to be first listen and you like it or first listen and you have an opinion. Live with it. Grow with it because at the end of the day, I make albums that have that type of longevity.” He doesn’t even feel like he’s made a classic album yet and that’s from the horse’s mouth.
