Some of the most prominent issues discussed in the film were the over-sexualization of women, gun violence, and anti- homophobic attitudes. Hunt would ask those involved in the industry about why they think these themes are so prevalent.
The short story “The Chase,” an excerpt from An American Childhood by Annie Dillard, and the novel Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse share a similar theme of how strangers impact a person's life. The theme that they share is how strangers can have a positive, long-lasting impact on people’s lives. Dillard and Hesse use evidence throughout the text to support the theme. At the beginning of the text, Annie uses flashback as a method to explain how the boys taught her to play football and baseball.
The Cold War began shortly after the end of World War II, one of the most horrendous conflicts in the history of America. It was a period of tension between the democracies in the Western World and the communists of Eastern Europe which lasted from 1945 through 1991. Although the United States and the Soviet Union never officially declared war on each other, they competed against each other in a non-hostile belligerency including the Cold War and Nuclear Arms Race. One significant topic from this chapter on the Cold War is the Berlin Airlift. As written in The Enduring Vision: A History of the American People, "The 1945 Potsdam Agreement divided Germany into four separate zones and created a joint four-power administration for Germany's capital,
Hip Hop is seen as something inspiring, but most people see it as a way to speak out the truth about a problem. As in “Hip Hop planet” being able say the truth can sometimes worsen any situation because sometimes what we say can promote violence and whatever happens after is not in our control. The essay is about how hip hop has changed into speaking out the issues that need to be taken care of in order to maintain a proper society. McBride talked about how rappers use violent lyrics to degrade women and gays and because of this it shows how the music has evolved into something entirely different that no one would have ever expected to have changed. In James McBride's essay “Hip Hop Planet,” he argues that hip hop has a negative influence on American Culture despite people thinking of it as inspirational and how people live through different experiences in life despite of your race.

Hip-hop culture has been the topic of various academic, social, and political discourses. Rap music, in particular, has made its way to mainstream media which is evident in the numerous films and movies that centers on what was once a part of an underground culture. Scholars explain that the popularity of hip-hop in both music and films are partly due to its potential to disseminate information, address an issue, and promote social change. Tinson and McBride (2013), for example, note that hip-hop is a “…form of critical education at the intersection of, and inseparable from political engagement” (1). Scholars further note that hip-hop’s current state “…requires frequent accounting of its engagement with the social, political, and cultural climate
Family trust and secrets are two major themes in the book Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng. Readers are first presented with the fact that Lydia, the favorite child in a family of five, is dead, and they are taken on an crazy, complex journey to find out how and why. Through this journey they detect the growing tension between family members, and how their desire to keep secrets from each other ultimately lead to family discord. Personally, I believe that family members do not need to, but rather are encouraged, to share their feelings with one another.
What many people seem to miss is that the culture is meant to express and not repress. Generally speaking, talent is a key importance in rapping. However, the power to address viewers of ethical conflicts in our environment through music should be considered more important than talent. In addition, Dr. Dre was influenced by Tupac and began to inspire other artists, such as Nas.

These artists are unaware that sexism has been forced onto them through the brainwashing from the media, which is controlled by a patriarchal society. Conversely, feminism is the belief that both genders should have equal power.
