If a person becomes a giver then they are less of a receiver. Finney, if he realized it or not had referenced the golden rule, which a lot of people are familiar with. He then talks politics. He talks a little bit about our decision to change who we want to lead or govern us as a nation. Finney says something about a two party system, which we have today.
Scrooge's changing perspective from not giving to giving is that people can change whenever they want and it feels better to give than not to give. The force that had the biggest impact on Ebineezer Scrooge’s changed perspective is his regret on his past and present. One piece of evidence from the story that shows this is” I cannot look at him.” on page 15.
Particularly, the speaker profiles Mr. Odger as a man engaged in “the useful profession of shoemaker” who “knocked in vain at the door that opens but to golden keys.” Here he obliquely patronizes Mr. Odger through the implication that the lower class should adhere to the bounds of their existing social status. Thus, the narrator retains a parochial view of the poor: any attempt on their behalf to transcend social hierarchy is a ludicrous notion. Following the narrator’s escape from the crowd into a hansom cab, he describes himself witnessing the affair as if “from a box at a play.” Notably, box seats are reserved for the opulent who can afford the luxury of sitting above the general audience.
Imagine a teenager whose dream job is to stop children from growing up. This scenario occurs in J.D. Salinger’s novel The Catcher in the Rye., where Holden Caulfield wants to be a “catcher in the rye”. In The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger employs symbolism and flashback to reveal that Holden Caulfield is obsessed with the idea that he should stop people from maturing, as he believes that maturing leads to the loss of innocence, later realizing that he can let people mature as long as he can preserve their innocence. At the beginning of the story, the reader sees that Holden likes to see Jane as her younger and more innocent self, hinting at Holden’s obsession.

He becomes terribly frightened by reliving his past.
Gold Coin Synthesis A gold coin intrigues the reader to keep on moving throughout the book while not becoming inattentive from the storyline. Gold coins can appear as a small scene, fact, or even telling a quote. Conrad uses gold coins as a literary device throughout chapter 9-13 in the book the Secret Agent as a cliffhanger and as a story engine. The author had shown that the use of gold coins could intrigue readers into what is going to happen next throughout the book. Conrad himself writes, “It was not of going out in the evening that Mr. Verloc was thinking.”
When incarcerated, many prisoners crave interaction with those outside the cold walls of their cell. Some, however, remain bitter and unwilling to venture any connection to outside society. Imprisoned in a Louisiana penitentiary, wrongfully accused of homicide, Jefferson in Ernest J. Gaines’s A Lesson Before Dying lives out his last days before execution isolated from the outside world. Intolerable Acts The Intolerable Acts can be viewed as one of the first sparks to the flaming fire of America claiming Independence. Four out of five of the Intolerable Acts were directed towards Massachusetts directly and the other was directed at Quebec. On that fateful day, he and his friend had ran into the bakery with knives and demanded bread, only to be taken aback by the shopkeepers cool demeanor and strange request- instead of simply giving them whatever they wanted, he strikes a deal with them. They awkwardly sit down and listen with him, then take everything they can fit into their bags and leave. The event left the boy
