K-9 is a wonderful poem that expresses what a day would be like, for a k-9 handler. Not only can dog handlers themselves relate to this poem, but so can every dog or animal lover in the world. The author uses so many descriptive words when describing the dogs, that you can't help but imagine your dog looking right at you while reading. Due to how the poem is written, even those who are not animal owners can find something in this poem to appreciate. These working dogs give so much unconditional attention and love, while providing safety for their owners and everyday people.

Always Something More Beautiful “Always Something More Beautiful” is a poem by Stephen Dunn, born in Forest Hills, NY. I got attracted to this poem, because it reminded me when I was at the Regionals for a Cross-Country race and reflected how humans’ life can be fair or beautiful. The cluster “time, clock, finish” clarifies for a measurement that refers to a competitive race.
The title already gives insight into the contrasting themes in the poem. It is not clear what the poem is about, but the title tells us that it will be about two contrasting ideas, circles and squares. The speaker seems to be a very intelligent, optimistic young aboriginal girl, who speaks with a knowledgeable voice, and this makes the poem seem like she has understood why everything has happened to her and how it will benefit her in the future. The structure of the poem also relates to the two contrasting themes between the aboriginal people and the white people.
‘For What It’s Worth’ by Buffalo Springfield has a logical message because it is referring to the Sunset Strip Riots that took place in Hollywood during the 1960’s. People protested when they lost their civil rights due to a curfew law that was put into place. The song says, “Stop, children, what’s that sound. Everybody look- what’s going down?”

This poem inspires people and moves them to the point to where they can find a personal connection to the poem itself and to the writer. Not only does it hold emotional value for those who were victimized and those whose family were victimized by the laws of segregation, but the poem is also celebrated for its complexity. The poem uses many techniques to appeal to the reader.
In the poem To This Day by Shane Koyczan is about how sometimes bullying get’s ignored. The reason I am writing this paragraph is to tell you how bullying get’s ignored in school and sometimes the kids have to walk around like clowns and carnies or the lion’s that the lion tamers hit with their words and their names that they call them every school was a big top circus tent “...and the pecking order went from ,acrobats to lion tamers, from clowns to carnies...” In conclusion the lion tamers are like the kids that are making fun of the kids that are like the lions getting whipped with the words of the lion
The poem I will be analyzing will be “Uncoiling” by Pat Mora. The theme the author is portraying is the personification of a tornado . It has a dark/fearful/grim tone as she describes the storm that is accruing. The author is using similes, and personification to convey the theme. The very first figurative language used in the poem is personification.

The poem “To This Day” by Shane Koyczan is to make the readers understand that there is hope for the ones who got, or even get bullied in school. Bullying happens every day in a regular school day and probably not on school days. “So we grew up believing that no one would ever fall in love with us, that we’d be lonely, forever.” (Line 23) The poet explains how by the countless names that the bullied endured, he thought no one could ever properly love the mistreated.

This song is about someone who went through a break up and is doing much better without her. The speaker is talking about the antagonist, his ex-girlfriend. She left him, and he was heartbroken at first but, he moved on without her and survived the break up. Throughout the song he recognizes how he is doing much better even after she broke up with him. He is telling her that moving on is better than staying with her.
Bullying Is an act from someone who believes they are superior to another person hurting them by damaging their reputation and destroying their confidence. Andrea Gibson illustrates an image of her being bullied in her acclaimed poem “A letter to the Playground Bully from Andrea, Age 8 ½”. She wants to end the tension between her and her bully because of his verbal abusiveness towards her. She uses repetition to highlight and resolve her complications, healing her sorrows by writing this poem.
