Nationalism is different than imperialism. Nationalism is known to have positive role on different countries and states. It is known to unite these states together and make them one. One place that nationalism had an effect on was Germany. Nationalism in Germany unified them because of the wars, Bismarck’s strong leadership, and economic growth. Because of nationalism, some of these countries avoided imperialism for a while. During the 19th century, Germany was not one country, but was separated into several different states. There were about 400 states that decreased to about 300 states. Within those different states, there was chaos. There were many states that had their own rulers. But during the Napoleonic War, these states were afraid that their states would be destroyed so they became allies with France. Unfortunately, Austria was destroyed but Germany increased in size.
