Who done it? There are three deaths that occur in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. And it may seem surprising but there is one person to blame for all three of them. Tom Buchanan is the one who is the most responsible for the deaths of Gatsby, Myrtle Wilson, and George Wilson.
In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, I believe that Daisy is to blame for Gatsby’s death. This claim can be proven through Daisy’s continuous affair with Gatsby despite Tom’s suspicions, Daisy selfish nature, and the fact that she killed Myrtle herself and let Gatsby take blame. For example, Daisy’s continuous affair with Gatsby despite Tom’s suspicion was one of the factors in Gatsby’s death. One example of this is when Nick witnesses “Daisy’s face was smeared with tears, and when I came in she jumped up and began wiping at it with her handkerchief” (89).
When a dream is taken too seriously to the point where reality is forgotten, it can physically harm a person. When Gatsby was shot by Wilson, Nick Carraway sheds light on the reason behind this tragic incident. Nick describes the loss of Gatsby 's life as Gatsby “[pays] a high price for living too long with a single dream”(Fitzgerald 165). Gatsby’s life was dedicated to achieving one dream, to be happy with Daisy. His dedication to his dream effected his view of reality.
Daisy Buchanan is merely at fault for Gatsby 's death. Daisy’s lack of self reliance and ignorance prompt her to be easily led into making bad decisions, causing her to lash out and be held responsible for the death of Gatsby. Being a women of the east egg society Daisy Buchanan has always been apart of the idea of “old money”, signifying that her whole life she has had everything given to her and she doesn 't have to rely on herself for her own self making. These factors impact her in her later life when she is faced with the consequences of Myrtle 's death. Daisy being responsible for the death of Myrtle ultimately leaves her to make the careless decision of letting Gatsby take the blame, because Daisy 's ignorance and lack of self reliance
In Francis Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, there are two characters by the names of Tom Buchanan and George Wilson. Throughout the book, these two particular characters seem to be very different from each other in nearly every way. However, it becomes clear as the story continues that they share some ideas and attitudes in common. Specifically, Tom and George were noteworthy in the way they felt about women, the methods by which they conveyed violence, and how they responded to their wives cheating on them.
The most shocking moment in the novel The Great Gatsby was ultimately when George Wilson snuck into Gatsby’s backyard and shot him in the back, sending him falling into his pool. If you were to ask a student who was responsible for the murder of Jay Gatsby, they would respond with the answer “George Wilson”. However, simply putting the word “morally” at the front of that question, you can now be provided with several different answers. Any main character in the novel The Great Gatsby, including Nick, Daisy, Tom, or Gatsby himself can be seen as morally responsible for the death of Jay Gatsby besides George Wilson. How would you feel if the woman you worked hard to be with and were deeply in love with was the one morally responsible for your death?
Gatsby uses the last five years of his life trying to achieve his one goal of obtaining Daisy as his wife and spending the rest of his life with her, but what happens to him instead is unexpected and undeserved. Jay Gatsby got shot and killed by George Wilson. Gatsby did not sleep with Myrtle, he is an honorable man and would not sleep with another man’s wife. Gatsby also did not kill Myrtle, if he did he would have stopped the car and not just kept driving. Daisy did not talk to Gatsby ever again after the accident.
Gatsby’s flaw in his life is his unconditional love for Daisy. He can never get over her and never will. Daisy was the reason Gatsby died because Gatsby covered for an accident that was daisy's fault but didn’t want her to get hurt or taken away from
Wilson’s POV: As I approached Gatsby’s estate, I felt God’s eyes following my every movement, beckoning me to avenge my beloved wife who was ripped away from me. I was going to take her somewhere safe, where she would no longer be pursued by other men, but I failed her, I failed Myrtle. The monster Gatsby may have thought that he could escape from his sins, stealing my wife and then throwing her away like garbage, but God saw everything, and he could not run forever. His inconsiderate actions have angered our Father, who did not approve of such a manipulative man with revolting hauteur. Gatsby lived like a king in his castle, protected by his wealth, and oblivious to the consequences of his actions.
“It was after we started with Gatsby toward the house that the gardener saw Wilson's body a little way off in the grass, and the holocaust was complete” (Fitzgerald 112). This quote is referring to Nick and the gardener carrying Gatsby’s dead body inside. George Wilson had shot Gatsby and then shot himself. This murder and suicide are the peak of violence portrayed in The Great Gatsby. Wilson was devastated because of Myrtle, his beloved wife.

In the court of law there’s only one person who was responsible and guilty for the murder of Jay Gatsby. Although in the eyes of god there was more than one person responsible for the murder or had the ability to stop the outcome of the murder. Weather it was Tom being honest about his affair, Daisy doing the right thing and stopping during the accident or Jay Gatsby himself by taking control of the situation and doing what was good for both Daisy and himself instead of just what 's best for Daisy. Tom, Myrtle, Daisy, and Gatsby were selfish and self centered leading them to become Morally responsible for the death of Jay Gatsby.
He was swimming in his pool waiting on Daisy to call but she never did. While he was swimming Wilson, the husband of Myrtle, shot Gatsby. This was the end of his dream. He lost his life and he would never have his
Nationalism is the pride for one’s country, the love that one has for its country and it is the want for the good of all people in the nation. This love is not conditional, it does not depend on race religion or economic standing. When a leader is chosen, when a country is coming out of great national change, this requires a particularly strong leader who only wishes for their countries greatness and success in the future. However, this can quickly turn into ultranationalism, or expose ultranationalistic motives. The two concepts of one’s love for their country have similarities, one is formed from the other, or that each can be provokers of change in either direction in the political spectrum.
In the novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there are many characters in which each symbolizes their own life lesson and message. The book's main character Jay Gatsby, loves to simulate and relive the past. Gatsby is a nostalgic character who throughout the story has a moral ambiguity with his obsession with trying to prove that he can recreate past triumphs, believing that the past held everything that was great about his life, but it’s impossible to re-spark past emotions and memories. Nothing can be as it once was, people grow each day. Each new day a person has a new outlook on life, they have new feelings, emotions, and opinions.
Harry S. Truman once said, “Actions are the seed of fate, deeds grow into destiny”. In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby is killed by George Wilson who mistakenly believes that Gatsby Murdered his wife, Myrtle. Jay Gatsby is welcoming, optimistic and innocent of murdering Myrtle Wilson. Because Gatsby is generous, romantic and innocent, he definitely did not deserve his horrible fate. With Gatsby’s fate being two-sided, readers will better understand why Jay Gatsby did not deserve his fate.
