Youth need strong mentors because they need adult guidance. The Jefferson Award is an award given to adults who mentor young people in their community. Someone who should be considered for this award is Elizabeth Pedersen. She taught seventh-grade math in Amery, Wisconsin. Pedersen is now retired, but still teaches summer school every year. “Even though Elizabeth Pedersen has retired and teaches summer school, she can still help other people with some homework even if she teaches them a different class in the Amery Middle School in the summer.” This supports the idea that Elizabeth Pedersen can still help students at summer school.
