Romeo and Juliet is about 2 teen star crossed lovers from feuding families, the Capulets and the Montagues. They have been feuding for decades, maybe centuries. There are many ideas/themes in Romeo and Juliet that are still relevant today. One idea/theme in Romeo and Juliet is feuding families (within one family or between 2 different families). You can still find many examples of feuding families today. To begin, “Violence and family feuds were an issue during the Shakespearean time as there was a nobility status and so people would fight over who is more noble and more well-off.” In the prologue of Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare wrote, "Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean." Furthermore, you could say the feud was also responsible for their deaths. The feud forbade their love for each other, as they didn’t want to be forced apart, so they chose death.
