Should Prisoners Have The Right To Vote Essay

Prisoners should not have the right to vote at all. Good Reads quoted “We are all prisoners but some of us are in cells with windows and some without.”(Kahlil Gibran) After you get arrested for committing a crime that instantly makes you a prisoner. As harsh as it may sound most prisoners are murderers or a thief so why would we want the prisoners voting. Cell mates all know who the new candidates will be to get elected, but they can never do anything about it without voting privileges. Even though convicts are behind bars they are still living people and have opinions. Some people would agree with letting criminals vote, but no one should be rewarded for breaking the law. By allowing criminals to vote it adds more benefits will they are serving time. Many processes will come with a voting law for prisoners and possibly more restrictions. No matter how murder, rape, stealing, and drug dealing is approached it will always be wrong. How could you give a convict the privilege to vote? Even if they did let the prisoners vote it wouldn’t have much of an affect to people behind bars. If someone does not have freedom then some privileges will be lost. When crimes are committed the convict isn’t thinking about voting, but months later they are going to miss having that option. Not being able to vote is sad and I know it’s frustrating, because prisoners don’t have any type of power.
