Ambition is defined as the strong desire to achieve a specific goal and is often driven by determination. It can guide people to achieve goals and aspirations, and some are willingly to do anything in order to satisfy their ambitious personalities. The French military and political Napoleon Bonaparte successfully defined what ambition truly is by stating, “Great ambition is the passion of a great character. Those endowed with it may perform very good or very bad acts. All depends on the principles which direct them.”

One of the most significant parts of this is the idea that being an ambitious person allows you to grow your confidence. In the book Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer, Krakauer unpacks his relationship with his father. He comments on how his father instilled ambition in him from a young age and that ambition gifted him the ability to climb Devil's Thumb Mountain. He reveals how he almost didn’t make it to the top of the mountain, but he did because he set an ambitious goal for himself because he knew he could accomplish it, and this thinking allowed him to be more confident in himself (146-151). This goes to show how positive being ambitious can be in someone's life; you could literally climb a mountain!
Humans are lazy. They like to do everything the easiest way possible unless there is a reason for doing it the hard way. Ambition is the reason individuals do anything in the world whether for personal gain or to help others. However sometimes people are put in the shooting range when someone goes all in with ambition. In Shakespeare's play "Macbeth" Shakespeare develops the idea that people can use ambition in different ways such as changing the world, gaining power, and overthrowing the corrupt.

It has taught me to go after my goals in life. It is like catching a fly ball that you have to dive for and get scraps and cuts, it is a difficult catch but you know you can do it. Anything in life worth having doesn't come easy, but being determined can be very rewarding. Knowing this has strengthened my academics, my attitude, and my passion for others.
Yet without ambition, it will institute individuals not to put effect in achieve anything or better their future. In addition, people will become dependent, conformist, and lazy. For instance, Mildred had no ambition in doing anything because her only interest was watch TV and listen to Seashell radio. It made her feel safe by following the government than trying to go against it. Life is received to those that are willing to get, instead of others that wait for it to come to them.
Ambition is what pushes people towards their goals, whether these goals are negative or positive. The more someone wants something, the stronger someone's ambition will be, and the harder people will work for it. Some may not realize they have an ambition, but if everyone has a goal, ambition won’t be far behind. Ambition is a desirable trait. “You should have your own mind, do what you want.”
Everybody faces trials trying to fulfill their goals however overcoming the trials we face is similar to a hero’s journey. In the odyssey, Odysseus’s ambition is to finally go home to be with his wife and son in Ithaca. The obstacles Odysseus’s faces are overcome by his excellence in physical, emotional and intellectual characteristics. My goal in high school was to graduate in the top ten percent of my class. We all want to accomplish our goals especially since we work endlessly to achieve them by emotional and intellectual attributions.
The Greek culture and Greek gods and goddesses has always been on my interest list. I find the study of Greek gods to be extremely intriguing and an interesting way to follow a specific practice of religion. I know a little information about Greek gods and who the main gods are, so having the opportunity to learn more about them is the extra push I needed to pick the topic of Greek gods and goddesses. I have also watched the Percy Jackson movies and read the books, which provided me with more insight on Greek gods even though Percy Jackson is a fictional read. Knowing all this information and interest in Greek gods lead me to the question, “How does Greek Gods get started and how does it influence the world today?”
I believe God is sufficiently knowledgeable just by who He is. Genesis 1 explains, God is the creator of all everything in the world and the universe. Vincent Van Gogh, who was a well-known painter dedicate his life to the evangelization of those less fortunate. His famous painting known as Starry Night is a beauty of the natural world because it reflects a religious verse from the Bible (Whitney, 1986). “Then he dreamt a bother dreamed and told it to his brother and said, “behold, I have dreamed another dream; behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me” (Genesis 37:9).
Ambition is when you have the determination or desire to want to achive something no matter how hard you have to work to get it. For example, in Macbeth both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth strive to be powerful, and they are willing do to anything they can to achieve that goal even if that means being dishonorable. This is relevant today, because ambition is a big key to living in the 21st century. If you do not have ambition, you will not be successful. You have to want to get through college, work, school, or even the “social event the could be big for your career,” therefore if you have ambition it will be a breeze getting through all these things.
