After spending the last 18 years of his life behind bars, Anthony Graves left prison as a free man. Graves was convicted of assisting Robert Earl Carter in the murder of Bobbie Davis and five others in Burleson County. There were no physical evidence that linked Graves to the murder and eyewitnesses confirmed his alibi at the time of the killing. But, Carter pointed out that Graves was the killer, and his testimony alone led to Graves being convicted of the slayings and was later sentenced to death. Graves’ life was spared when the case’s lead prosecutor, District Attorney Charles Sebesta, shed light to Carter’s previous confession admitting that he alone was the murderer.

A Closer Look at Cop Killer Ismaaiyl Brinsley by Limus Woods, Contributing Writer A 28-year-old with a harsh criminal background, the troubled NYPD cop killer Ismaaiyl Brinsley was not just a shooter who came out of nowhere and decided to kill two policemen. He actually was affiliated with a prison gang some years ago that hated the police in particular. Some of the actions that he displayed during the entire day, from the time he left Baltimore until he committed suicide in the New York subway, hinted at mental illness. But, until you see the history of him from childhood to the time of his death, you won’t understand how the timeline over the course of his life may have been leading up to this type of ending for him for a long time now.

Not many people would have thought or even believed that she would become a serial killer. In the novel True Grit by Charles Portis, the mistakes made by Rooster Cogburn eventually lead him to the path of the good. While Rooster is speaking with Labeouf it becomes known that Rooster rode “with the Quantrill gang” and that they “were not soldiers but murdering thieves”. The atrocities that Rooster committed with the Quantrill gang are the first of many morally wrong actions that lead him to becoming a marshall. As a marshall, Rooster is a shoot first ask questions later type enforcer of the law and it is revealed that he is responsible for “twenty-three dead men in four years”(50). Vengeances Is Mines In the novel True Grit, Charles Portis makes a character named Rooster Cogburn. The character Portis makes a unique identity. Rooster is a unique kind of man because of his past as a criminal and now a marshal. Rooster Cogburn is a one of a kind character as a result of his bad history showed him how to kill. Likewise, Rooster is caring and has a connection to Mattie.
