All throughout the story Tom and his wife seem to argue very much. Tom never wanted to please his wife and would never try or do anything to please her. Also, both Tom and his wife were so miserable in their marriage they cheated on eachother. “... with the loss of his wife, for he was a man of fortitude. He even felt something like gratitude towards the black woodsman, who, he considered had done him a kindness.”
His lustful desire for money and materialistic possessions destroyed him. His inability to forgive Daisy for loving Gatsby, and transcend onwards from the past, ignited his anguish like a flame. Tom was like a weed infecting delicate flower beds. For the past is in the past, one must move on to prosper. However, Tom was driven by revenge and was determined to ruin Daisy, just as her love for Gatsby tore him up inside.
At first we noticed Tom’s guilt that made him wonder if his priorities were right, and soon we will notice Tom actually begin to change. Tom is a perfect example of a dynamic character due to the fact that he changes so much. Later on in the story Tom is “sliding on the ledge with a clumsy desperate swiftness” (119). He wanted to get off the roof so bad and he didn’t even care about his work anymore, he just wanted to be safe and get back to his wife, which was now his top priority. So he tried to get to safety as quickly as possible, it was a very desperate attempt.
Introduction Micah and Kerri Swick are a couple who once served on the mission field in Provo, Utah with Biblical Ministries Worldwide. They served for about two years and then came back to Kansas City, Missouri to start a family. They now live happily with their three-year-old son, Malachi. He is the husband of Daisy Fay, who is the object of Jay Gatsby’s desire. Daisy describes him as “brute of a man, a great, big, hulking physical specimen” Tom was an extremely narcissistic, pompous, and egotistical, individual who would try to use his wealth and power as a way to escape consequences because of his actions. Tom first shows us his true colors by revealing his affair on Daisy with a woman named Myrtle. Myrtle and Tom first met on a train while she was on her way to New York.
The Great Gatsby written in, 1917, takes place in a time much different from ours. Everyone was in pursuit of happiness; an idea Thomas Jefferson promised everyone American when he signed the United States Constitution. The pursuit of happiness my friend has many shapes and forms, one of Greed and Lust for wealth and women. The rich thought they totally outclassed the "poor" and would often classicize them. In Chapter 6, Tom says, "By God, I may be old-fashioned in my ideas but women run around too much these days to suit me".
Tom and George share a similar opinion on their attidudes toward women. Both Tom and George are vicious, Tom when he hits Myrtle, has a fight with Gatsby, and in the way that he approaches individuals he supposes are underneath him or that have wronged him somehow. He obviously was less similar to this until after he completed school where the hardness in him turned out to be more evident and he started effectively destroying individuals when conceivable. George additionally follows up on fierce driving forces and executes somebody out of the anger that he feels for being singled out by everybody including his better half. Tom Buchanan is Fitzgerald’s masterpiece of creating a character who portrays the life, and characteristics as an alpha male. Through the vision of character’s surrounding Tom we began to see how his loftier masculinity characterizes him in the story. I begin with a quote from Tom’s wife Daisy that embodies the intimidating masculine characteristics of Tom, “I know you didn’t mean to, but you did do it. That’s what I get for marrying a brute of a man, a great, big, hulking physical specimen of a-----” (Fitzgerald 12). In this quote from Daisy we view a list of characteristics that are associated with Tom’s masculinity.
In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, there are many important characters, some alike and some different. Two characters who are both different and alike at the same time are Tom Buchanan and George Wilson. Fitzgerald gives the reader a lot of information about how Tom and George are very different from each other. One can interpret many different things that Fitzgerald may be trying to convey about the nature of men. Based on how he portrays Tom and George’s actions it helps to show the true nature of men.

Scott Fitzgerald this book compares two men, one who grew up with nothing and worked his way to the top, versus a man who inherited everything and stayed at the top and how they later meet.
Tom's prominent personality traits I come across is that he's clever, manipulative, and he's simply active allowing his imagination run wild along with being greatly energetic. Throughout the novel from the beginning he is represented as a child who simply enjoys causing trouble doing things he shouldn't such as repeating his action of getting into the jam after Aunt Polly has told him not to. He goes on to use his skill to manipulate kids into doing his work for him or simply trading off items to gain tickets to get a bible from Sunday School. While he's left in a depressed state after not seeing Becky for a while Aunt Polly begins to try remedies and treatments to help him out of it, but ends up feeding the cat the pain killer. I simply
