“Doing all the little tricky things it takes to grow up, step by step, into an anxious and unsettling world (Sylvia Plath). The book To Kill Mockingbird by Harper Lee is an award winning book written in 1960 Maycomb Alabama. The book is narrated by a girl named Scout. She tells the story about how her brother Jem broke his arm and all the events leading up to it. It starts with a boy named Dill coming to visit for the summer and him and Jem started picking on the Radley house to try and see a boy named Boo Radley who had supposedly been locked in the house for years. After that summer they completely forgot about Boo and where more focused on the court case there father Atticus was involved with. The court case was about a man named Tom Robinson who was a black man who supposedly raped a white woman named Mayella Ewell. During the court case Atticus showed the court of how Tom clearly couldn't have done it because he couldn't use his right arm and Mayella's hole neck was covered with bruises all around her neck and the left side of her face was bused as well which he couldn't have done because he couldn't use his right hand. Their aunt and Father thought it would be a good idea for scout to have a feminine influence in the house. As stated by their aunt when she was talking to Scout. “We discussed that it would be best for you some feminine influence . It won't be many years, Jean Louise before you become interested in clothes and boys” (170). What she was saying was that Scout will need another girl in the house instead of two guys to talk to. Also to relate to her and what's she's going through as she growing up. She also welll need someone to help her learn how to be a lady and do lady things and spend so much time with her brother and
