Can a to small town have all four love, hatred, innocence and cruelty. Maycomb a town of creepy houses, mysterious people, racism, sexual assault and death. Three kids Jem, Dill, and Scout all curious about the Boo Radley place they think its a haunted house and they are to scared to get near the Radley place, but Jem and Scout pass by the Boo Radley place to get to school and they notice something mysterious in the tree of the Radley place. Atticus a lawyer the father of Jem and Scout has to go through a trial for Tom Robinson, Jem and Scout want to see their father in action at work, do they sneak out or stay home. Atticus ends up with a case that the whole town wants to go watch. Tom Robinson has to go to trial for possible rape of Mayella Ewell. Jem and Scout want to go watch Atticus in action at work, so they decide to sneak out and they hide at the courthouse, the courthouse was packed the whole town was there waiting for the trial to start. The trial starts with Bob accusing Tom Robinson of raping his daughter. Bob Ewell told the judge, Atticus, and the whole crowd that he was in the woods bringing in a load of wood when he heard Maybella screaming once he had made it to his house he saw in the window that Tom was raping his daughter Mayella. Mayella Ewell’s story was the same has her father's she said that Tom was in her house when she found him on top of her and he was beating her as well. Atticus was not buying the Ewells story, Atticus thought that Bob might of hurt Ewell because he was drunk Mayella told the judge that her father did not hurt her, but Attics was thinking that she was just covering for her father because she was afraid. It was Tom's turn to say his side of the story, Tom told the judge that he was walking by the Ewells house when he heard Mayella invite him in to help her out. Jem was confused and frustrated, Atticus was upset and he felt as if he had let Tom Robinson down. Atticus tells Jem that a white man's word always beats a black mans, Jem was upset that Tom did not get a fair trial, but what Atticus had said shows that Maycomb was a town of racism a black man could not get a fair trial because he was up against a white male. After Tom’s trial Toms family had brought Atticus and his family some food for Atticus being his lawyer and trying his best at the trial. Days have passed and Calpurnia told Atticus and his family that Tom made an attempt to escape jail and by doing so he was shot dead. Finding out about Tom's death Atticus felt as if it was the right thing for him to tell Toms wife that he had passed away. It was October and Scout was entering in a halloween party and a play Scout was wanting to be a ham. During the play it was Scouts turn to go up but she fell asleep, the play was over and it was getting dark outside, Jem and Scout walk home. Jem keeps hearing noises as Scout and Jem were talking home they got close to their house so they run, Scout and Jem were struggling and wrestling with this mysterious person. Scout and Jem all of a sudden felt the man get pulled off of them, but Jem kept fighting with this mysterious man.
