In the Novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, the author Harper Lee, used many characters that symbolize mockingbirds. One of which was Tom Robinson. Tom was an african american and in the 1930’s there was a lot of racial discrimination going on. Blacks had a lot against them just like Tom Robinson in the trial. Tom Robinson was a mockingbird because he was helpful, kind, and a thoughtful human being. Tom Robinson was always helping people. Whenever anyone needed help, he was right there. Tom Robinson said,”I was studyin’ why just passin’ by, when she says for me to come and help her a minute’(Lee 195). This shows that Tom Robinson was there to help.
