1. ) The tone is the way that the Author expresses his attitudes through his writing. It can change very quickly or it could even stay the same throughout the whole story. The tone in “Edward, Edward” is very similar but also very different from the tone in “Lord Randall”. In “Edward, Edward” the tone is very dark and suspenseful because it just keeps you on the edge wondering what or who Edward actually killed. It also makes you really confused at the end of the story because at the end you find out that it was Edward’s mother who told him to kill his father so it makes you wonder why his mother is asking him all these questions like “why is your sword so bloody?” when she knows exactly why it’s bloody and what he killed. The tone in “Lord Randall” is also very dark because Lord Randall dies and he’s having to tell his mother that he isn’t feeling good and asking her to make his bed for him meaning that he is dying and it also makes you ask how is he dying then it tells you that he was in the woods with his lover and she fed him eel so it’s basically letting us know that he was poisoned but this story also leaves you very confused at the end because it …show more content…
