I would also like to start working on ways to properly education parents on the need for sealant, on all molars and not just the teeth covered by
The first action i would take, would be to ask for the schools lunch schedules and test if the food they are serving has a high percentage of fluoride which is the cause of developing mottled teeth. The next step would be to test the public water fountains and test for a high percentage of fluoride as well. Then if either of the two tested positive then i would work to change their dieting schedules then better purifying the water of fluoride. I will then gather information over the next few weeks to see if the number of students with mottled teeth would decrease.
The disease is caused by plaque-forming bacteria, which create inflammation and deterioration of the gum tissue. This deterioration often results in the loss of teeth. It 's estimated that 90% of Americans will experience gum disease during their lifetime, and 25% of Americans over 60 will lose teeth due to the disease.
Since 1941, National Children’s Dental Health Month has grown from a one-day, two-city event to a nationwide observance that spans the month of February. The American Dental Association sponsors this annual event to raise awareness about the importance of developing good oral health habits at an early age, scheduling regular dental visits and helping ensure children enjoy a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. San Ramon Dental Center is proud to take part in this important initiative. Dr. Ferdinand Parawan has been involved in charitable programs, such as a trip to Mexico and Belize to provide care to those in need, as well as Christina’s Smile Children’s Dental Clinic PGA Tour. He possesses an extensive background in his field, including certification
Over 2/3 of Americans have been helped by fluoride. Whether it was fluoridated water or high content in tooth paste. The mineral/drug was introduced in the 1950s when it was discovered to be naturally occurring in our bodies and helps strengthen our teeth to fight through tooth decay. Water fluoridation has helped people save time and money, with less dental expenses and visits. Tooth decay is still a major problem today in adolescence and has yet to be completely prevented.
Similarly, Lorde describes white teeth to separate herself further from society, but more so on a local scale. In her song “White Teeth Teens,” Lorde addresses the popular teenagers with white teeth as their defining characteristic. These teens are the ones striving to fit the media’s ideal standards of perfection, while Lorde herself outright states “I’ll let you in on something big / I am not a White Teeth Teen.” Interestingly enough, her exclusion was self-induced, as she goes on to explain “I tried to join but never did,” meaning being a part of that group was a possibility, but it wasn’t appealing enough to join.
Consider my example at the beginning of this section; of milk teeth falling out as opposed to normal teeth, if one clarifies the characteristics of milk teeth and permanent teeth we can simply say “one is diseased if members of their set of teeth which grew after the deciduous had fallen out, fall out of their own accord”. Thereby rendering it not applicable to the five year old with milk
And why there are many who go through this extreme pain and discomfort? At around your 10th birthday, your wisdom tooth starts forming. However, you will never feel its presence now. Third molars or wisdom teeth formation takes place at a later stage, as compared to all other set of teeth. And this is precisely why third molars emerge at the age of 17 to 25 years.
If you had a bad dental experience as a child, reassure yourself that it’s unlikely to happen again in the future, especially since dental technology is advancing every day. If you fear the lack of control, meet with your dentist beforehand so you can get to know the person behind the scrubs. In reality, there is no better person you’d want working on your teeth than a well-trained dentist, and if you have the opportunity to discuss their qualifications and training, it can help you feel at ease.
Traumatic dental injuries are common, attention-seeking problems that affect children worldwide. It is of utmost importance to treat such injuries correctly and on time to improve future outcomes and avoid pulpal and periodontal damage in cases of permanent tooth injury. It is as important to manage TDI in primary teeth to avoid disruptions to the succedaneous permanent teeth. Dental trauma falls under four main categories according to Andreasen (Feliciano and de França Caldas Jr, 2006); injuries to the hard tissues and dental pulp, injuries to the periodontium, injuries to the supporting alveolar bone, and injuries to the oral mucosa.
You will note that for most children, orthodontic treatment normally begin when they are 11 to 15 years old. It is important to note that this kind of treatment is both proactive and reactive. It aims at fixing one problem now so that your child’s teeth can stay healthy for the rest of his or her life. Your child may need braces of he or she is having the following
In 2007, scientists from the Neurotoxicology Division of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency classify fluoride as having strong evidence of “developmental neurotoxicity.” (A developmental neurotoxin is a chemical that can impair a young, developing brain) (Connett 11). Dr. Hardy Limeback, Former President of the Canadian Association for Dental Research states, "The evidence that fluoridation is more harmful than beneficial is now overwhelming”
Bones and teeth: A lack of calcium can cause long-term problems with bones and teeth that can continue into adulthood. Lack of calcium causes weakness in teeth and bones which in later life can develop into a disease called osteroporosis, which causes older people’s bones to fracture easily. Tooth decay: If the diet includes too many sugary foods, including fruit juices there is a danger of tooth decay. When younger children’s milk teeth are affected, the adult teeth sitting under the gums can also become decay.
Advanced Dental Technology Maintains Oral Health People are struggling to maintain their oral health by not sufficiently and regularly brushing or flossing well enough. Now, if people do not care about or try to at least maintain their oral health then the dental industry could shut down. The reason being, that people do not care enough or do not have enough money to go to dental practices to get an oral checkup, results in having bad oral care. Not long after, people will have to deal with oral diseases and difficulties if they do not get accustomed to taking better care of the inside of their mouths and get the assistance that they need.
