Anyone who’s ever been to Miami University knows how the campus is filled with red bricked building, and has heard that Robert Frost said referred to it as “the most beautiful campus there ever was.” But what are the top 5 attractions of Miami besides the red brick and beautiful campus that really draws students and staff here? A College Full of Tradition

Every family has traditions of their own that students will miss when they head off to college, but thankfully here at Miami, we have a few traditions that students can add to there’s! My favorite tradition that everyone knows about is the seal. Located in ‘The Hub’ part of campus is Miami’s seal. The tradition says that those who step on the seal will fail their next exam! The not so fun part, the only time I ever failed an exam in my life is after I stepped (or got pushed) on the seal! Not so fun, but it is fun to watch students go out of their way to not step on or near the seal.
Another tradition Miami has is located at the Sundial near Central quad, facing MacCracken hall. The sundial has two turtles that are located on the Sundial. It is said that students go there to rub the turtles head to give them luck on an exam! My friends and I did that this year by creating the LLC called C.H.OW., which stands for Cuisine Happens Our Way. As you can imagine, our hobby is cooking. We receive a budget each semester and are required to have four events. Last semester we had a welcome back spaghetti dinner, made gourmet popcorn at Art After Dark, we went to a play and discussed it afterwards, and volunteered at Winter Fest where we gave away free cookies.
