The crime that I have decided to analyze is the kidnapping, sexual assault causing bodily harm, and first-degree murder of Victoria “Tori” Stafford caused by Michael Rafferty and Teri-Lynne McClintic on April 8, 2009.The specific crime that I am going to be focusing on is the sexual assault of Tori Stafford by Michael Rafferty. Michael Rafferty had a history of sexual violence and an excessive interest in child pornography. The article shows evidence of child pornography found downloaded on Rafferty’s computer and in his searches, “But the computer evidence suggests a prevailing sexual interest in children. Police found Rafferty had downloaded or viewed a substantial amount of child pornography on his computers, and the vast majority of the filenames suggest a focus on incest. Search queries such as "real underage rape pictures" and "nude preteen" were entered on his computer in the weeks leading up to Tori's murder.” (Jones 2012, par. 45). He also admitted to taking large quantities of opioid and narcotic drugs. He was also testified against by multiple previous sexual partners of him choking them during their sexual encounters some with consent and others without consent. He had conversations about kidnapping children with McClintic before their actions on Tori Stafford and was found guilty of making McClintic kidnap Tori Stafford while she was walking …show more content…

I believe this theory can be linked to this crime because Michael Rafferty’s actions were based on sexual urges and the inability to realize what he was doing was wrong and social and normal behaviours. This along with his sexual attraction to minors and violent behaviour during sexual encounters could be the reason he sexaully assaulted Tori Stafford and caused bodily harm to
