Our generation,the millennial, are born along with all these modern technologies. From high tech phones, cameras, and computer, the world is changing every second of the day. As the tech companies increase its scope of potential so as the rise of the threat. Social media collect information about our daily lives which is sold to other companies for profit, including the government. Government like the CIA, Central Intelligence Agency, and NSA, National Security Agency, are created in order to spy on their own citizens. Right after the 9/11 incident, the United States government have grown paranoid. In response they have decided to tighten the security within and out of the country. For example, a privacy activist, Max Schrems who went against Facebook for their privacy policies and also protested the violation of rights by transferring personal data to the NSA(National Security Agency). It is also a great example in 1984 about Winston Smith who knew about the violation of his privacy in which he knew the consequences. It was an advance technology that is capable of detecting movements and sounds. The telescreens were the main gadget that was used not only to spy on people but to explicitly watch them in their every move. The telescreen is a modern version of a phone. Through geolocation, anyone can be tracked and through the microphone, you can be heard. The warning was portrayed by Winston through his movements and the consequences of his actions.
