In any tragedy, the tragic hero is the person who makes a bad decision that leads to his/her own death. The tragic hero causes his/her own suffering because of their own personal flaws that make them who they are. Three main theories of the tragic hero are the Aristotelian model, the Shakespearean model, and the modern tragic hero. Each model has five defining characteristics, which are nobility, hamartia, downfall, anagnorisis, and suffering. In the Shakespearean mode of tragedy, the play of Romeo and Juliet is a great example of a tragic hero. For example, nobility is specified by their goodness in their mind, rank, and in birth. Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 in Gary Indiana. Michael Jackson was born into a large working class family, Michael’s mother was a homemaker and she was also involved with Jehovah’s witness. But his father was once a guitarist but became a crane operator to provide for his wife and his kids(5). Michael started performing locally when he was just five years old. But in 1968, five of the jackson kids signed with Motown Records as the Jackson Five(4). Out of the five siblings Michael was the lead singer and the lead dancer as well. But when Jackson was just 13 years old he started a solo career for himself while he still contributed with the Jackson Five as well(5).However when the Jackson Five’s popularity slowly faded that was a perfect opportunity for Michael to leave Motown and team up with a producer by the name of Quincy Jones who help him create some of the album’s that made him so successful later in his life(2). If Michael never would have started singing and him and his siblings never would have signed with Motown Records then Michael Jackson never would have been as famous and popular as well as nobody would have ever heard of him, so they never would have bought one of his solo albums .
