Tell me a little bit about yourself (ie. fun hobbies, major, year of study, anything else you'd like to mention?

I’m the founder and president of a community service club called Roots Honorary Community Service Club. I’m a senior in Queens College pursuing a bachelor in biology. I’ve been inducted in two different honors program at the college, “Transfer Honor” Program and “Honor Mathematical and Natural Science”. I’m a very socially active individual at school, you’ll find me at any given moment running around campus; helping out in any events from open house to peer mentoring for the honors programs to leading campus tours for prospective students. The idea of forming this club came to me when I was volunteering at a local nursing home. The happiness that I was able to bring to these elderly folk was a memorable moment that I would come to cherish very much however, everybody I spoke to had a smile on their face. Just spending a few hours and conversing about daily routines like how are you?, how’s your day been? Etc.., gave the residents of the nursing home happiness. They told me interesting stories of how they grew up and how the world was like when they were in my age and they sharing their wisdom and experiences that they dealt with which was priceless. I had an unforgettable experience where not only did the people I help feel good, but I felt good too. Which is why I want to kick start this club with like minded people could converge and give back to the community. Which is why I named the club roots because we are the people that are giving nutrients to the tree of life, which is our community.
