. BACKGROUND TO THE RESEARCH PROBLEM
Fullan (2001) said the more complex society gets, the more sophisticated leadership must become. According to Lewis, Goodman and Frandt (1998) thus assert that school administrators are expected to cope with fast change around the work to be effective at their schools. For this reasons teacher require abilities to be team-oriented, strong communicators, team players, problem solvers, change-makers and transformational leaders.
Many researchers have been made to explain leader’s roles in organizations. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
What are the perceptions of educators regarding the meaning of transformation leadership with respect to education?
3. AIMS OF THE RESEARCH
The main aim of this research project is to probe the pints of view which South African educators attach to transformational leadership using fact to face interviews
4. METHOD OF RESEARCH
This study is carried out with a qualitative research design. These kinds of researches are used to gain in-depth knowledge in a study. More specifically the research employed an ethnographic research design in collecting data. Creswell (2000) describe ethnographic designs are qualitative research procedures for describing, analysing, an interpreting a culture-sharing groups shared patterns of behaviour, beliefs, and language that develop over time. Teacher’s views were obtained through face to face interviews with semi-structured questions. The interviewer wants to understand what the interviewee means by stating his/her understanding of transformational leadership in his/her own words. As this is a pilot study the researcher will interview only three persons who are involved in the educational system in some or other way.

The respondents in the study are human subjects and this required a number of measures to be put in place to ensure that the subjects were protects. The main ethical issues that have been given due consideration during the research are given below,
Informed consent: Inform all participants that they are subject to the research project and that they are free to refuse to participate.
Deception: true information given to all participants about the purpose of the research
Confidentiality: identifying information about the subjects will not be made available to anyone.
Anonymity: the identity of each participant will remain unknown.
Risks: no subject will be harmed physically or emotionally.
The teachers who are selected are given the guarantee that their identity will not be revealed to anyone .Finally all those participating in the research have not been named anywhere in the report. Laying emphasis on the above ethical problems is of paramount importance because if the respondents do not trust the researcher, then the validity of the data collected will not reflect the
