Program Description HUD-VASH is a joint program between the Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the Veteran Affairs (VA) (Homeless Veterans). HUD provides Homeless Veterans with a Housing Choice Voucher Program, known as Section 8 Housing (Homeless Veterans). While the VA assists with case management and clinical services for veterans. The VA provides these services to participating Veterans at VA medical centers and community-based outreach services.
Many people around the world are homeless and majority of them are homeless veterans that served in wars like the vietnam war. The age range for veterans are usually in their 50 and 60’s and the numbers are increasing rapidly. In 2016 january ,communities in america identified 39,471 homeless veterans during the point in time. Veterans homelessness should be because and should be honored because of what they do for our country and they are heroes.

It wasn 't until the 80 's that they started to find mental changes some severe mental changes after seeing the horror of war. Each scene plays out in their head known as post traumatic stress disorder or also know as PTSD causing it hard to function at work or in public traumatic brain injury, know as TBI, ties in with with PTSD. How does this affect the homelessness rates of veterans, as statics show and according to VA General inspector mental trauma is the cause for over 50 percent of the homelessness among veterans.
More people suffer from homelessness than we realize. We often take for granted having a home to go to. I completely agree with Anna about her feelings on homelessness. I often see the homeless on the side of the road and I normally refer to them as homeless people but what I fail to realize is, that “homeless person” has a name, that “homeless guy” is a human being just like the rest of us longing for certainty, stability and privacy. Those “homeless people” are human beings without a home.
Veterans and our soldiers are coming home from war or getting out of the military and when they get home they can’t afford rent or they have a mental disease from war. Homeless veterans tend to experience homelessness longer than non-veteran homeless. This should not be happening to our soldiers. This is very undesirable for our troops to come home and becoming homeless. They fight for our freedom and our rights and we repay them by becoming homeless.
Simply put, a clear majority of the homeless are in fact veterans. However, estimates by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development indicate that there are 49,933 homeless veterans at any given night.
After most veterans, men or women, get discharged, they end up homeless because they don't get treated with the utmost respect they deserve. According to Green Doors, an organization that works to "prevent and help end homelessness," minorities such as African Americans and Hispanics are most likely to become homeless ("Veterans Homeless Facts"). If veterans come from poor communities, it is harder for them to go back to normal or re-enter the military because they do not get the support they need. They will struggle to find jobs or lose them and become unemployed and homeless because they do not have a stable job. Many things cause veterans to become homeless, like a lack of support and isolation after they get discharged.

Millions of people including families ,children, elder, babies , veterans live day after day without water ,food or a roof over their heads. The number of homeless, families with children and elder has considerably over the past decade or so. They are together the fast, growing portion of the homeless population. There are together almost 40% of all people who are homeless.
Homeless in America has been growing over the past 20-25 years. over a million people are homeless all over the world. 643,067 people experiencing homelessness of any given second. Most people are spending the night either in homeless shelters or in some sort of short-term transitional housing. Slightly more than a third are living in cars or under bridges or are in some other way living unsheltered.
The majority of homeless veterans, individuals that are mainly men, ninety- one percent to be exact, they live mostly in cities and may have a mental or physical disability. Veterans are more likely to become homeless if they partake in low socioeconomic status or a mental health disorder, for example, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and traumatic brain injuries. Both of these have been found in a large majority of the homeless veterans. When they have these disorders, it is harder for them. to go back to the civil life that they had before they left for serving in the war.
Homelessness is one the most ignored problems in the United States with citizen and politician. Homeless people are walked by and ignored. Nobody ever thinks that they will be homeless. Due to the economy, people live paycheck to paycheck making house payments very difficult. Most people will want to believe most homeless people are drug addicts or alcoholics, but most people will be surprise to know that it is no all true.
The current government is creating a situation where more families along with their children are experiencing homelessness. An individual may be considered homeless when they lack permanent housing and have to stay in shelters, abandoned buildings or vehicles, on the streets, or in other forms of unstable situations. Many homeless people start out with jobs and stable residences, but then social and economic factors intervene, causing a rapid change in their living situation causing them to leave, and live on the street. Even with the population of homeless keeps increasing, the government does not aid nor benefit the homeless because they only worsen the homeless problem by having laws that go against homelessness, not helping mentally ill homeless population, and having the lack of subsidized housing.
The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem. There is a multitude of factors that account for the growing homeless population that affects each state in the country differently. Though there are many contributing factors that contribute to the amount of people living on the street at any given night in the U.S.
Homelessness is a significant complex societal problem. Many people think homelessness is an individual problem, but I think society has a large factor on why people become homeless. Individuals who are homeless are not lazy like most of society thinks. These people are struggling with societal problems such as living costs and mostly cannot support themselves financially. In my eyes, Homelessness is a factor of societal forces such as high cost of housing and living and also society having failed systems to support people who are stuck in these sorts of situations.
