The growth of the organization over recent years has provided many benefits, but has also presented some challenges for establishing a sustainable future and business model. Management within the organization has indicated a desire to reduce overhead costs within the organization, and reduce areas of fiscal waste. It is this authors opinion, that transitioning to a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure will provide the company with a solid plan for further growth, while also reducing unneeded costs and overhead. Changing to a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure The current configuration within the organization, is based on running multiple operating systems, various platforms throughout departments, onsite employees, remote employees, and contractors. This is accomplished since the VDI is located in a centralized location. This allows an organization IT department the ability to mange end user authorization, perform application development, and set up privacy for end user information (Baron, 2015). This will allow the IT department to take more control, and use company time and resources to streamline the experience, and continue to work on developing new methods of operation to make the organization more streamlines. Access VDI offers employees, and contractors, the ability to access their desktops almost anywhere at anytime. Many employees have express the desire to complete some extra work after hours from home in order to finalize projects, or work company sanctioned overtime. VDI offers the ability to perform this work. Employees will be able to leave their work stations at the office, and pick up at the same place when logging in from home. This flexibility can be viewed as a job benefit, and an asset to many.
