There have been many recorded attacks on colored people in the history books. Trayvon Martin was a colored seventeen year old from Miami and was fatally shot by George Zimmerman. The murder of Trayvon Martin was a big spark in the movement of Black Lives Matter also known as #BLM. The #BlackLivesMatter movement has been spreading all around the world for around 3-4 years and was initially created after the murder of Trayvon Martin by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi. The killing of Trayvon Martin had near to no reason behind it. Trayvon Martin was shot in the night of February 26, 2012 by George Zimmerman who was a voluntary neighborhood watch coordinator and this was where Trayvon Martin was temporarily living. After three years of this movement spreading, racial tensions are still extremely high all around the world especially in the US. “Just since election day there have been over fifty anti-black racial disputes” (Hatewatch.) Since the murder of Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown the Black Lives Matter campaign started and on election day around three to four years after the campaign had started within the space of three to four months there was fifty anti-black racial disputes. On the chart where I had picked up this information “anti-black disputes were towering over all the other racial disputes that had occurred” (Hatewatch.) It comes to show how people don’t believe black lives matter as much as other lives really proving the truth behind this movement. Overall all racial tensions especially anti-black disputes are still extremely high with this movement going on. I do still truly believe that the BLM movement has made hundreds of millions of people extremely aware of this
