The Treaty of Versailles is a treaty that was signed by the Allied Powers and Germany that officially ended World War I. The treaty was signed on June 28, 1919 which was exactly five years after the event that started the war which was the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife who was the heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian empire. The Treaty of Versailles also forced that Germany should have paid the total reparations of the war which was also made by the other Entente powers along with Germany along with other things that the treaty also said that Germany had to do. After this act, the king of Austria-Hungary sent an ultimatum to the kingdom of Serbia that set off a diplomatic crisis between the two empires at the time. After the ultimatum was delivered the alliances from decades prior were invoked and within weeks a full-scale war with the major powers in Europe was made because of the alliances that had to be honored. After that happened the first one to declare war was the Austria-Hungary and they declared war on Serbia on July 28 after that happened Russia became active to defend Serbia and Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary and then because of the blank check that Germany had given Austria-Hungary once Russia had declared war on Austria-Hungary Germany, in turn, had invaded Belgium and Luxembourg and therefore declaring war on Russia. The moment that Germany had set its sights on invading France it ultimately triggered that the United Kingdom to declare war on Germany.
