He Tried to Be Crafty In ( Verses 15–17). Pilate tried craftiness. Now once a year the Governor would release a prisoner to the people. Notice verse 15, “Now at that feast (the Passover Feast) the governor was accustomed to release unto the people a prisoner. And they had then a notable prisoner called Barabbas.” Since Pilate wanted to be so crafty, he thought about putting a man named Barabbas, a notable prisoner against Jesus. Barabbas was a murderer and a thief! So Pilate thought that if he put Barabbas on one side and Jesus side on the other side.
