A Little Things Means a lot In the play “Trifles” by Susan Glaspell was published in 1916. Susan Glaspell wrote this play during the cold weather and also illustrated 19’s centaury’s man perspective through the women. The title “Trifles” reflects that women considered about unimportant and all important work carried by men. When women try to solve the problem by observing the little things and that man does not understand that but the reader founded that in the end. In 1916, when this plays written, on that time male are everything for society and women does not count in the society. Women does not have right to vote, some limits on their job, industries, and marketplace. Mr. Wright’s wife Mrs. Wrights is only one person who confirmed present at the time of death. Where, Mrs. Wright has been founded by a neighbor Mrs. Hell. The sheriff and county attorney return with Mr. Hell to investigated murder case. Sheriff’s wife’s Mrs. Peters comes to collect a few things for Mrs. Wright, who has been charged for the murder of her husband. The neighbor’s wife Mrs. Hale keeps Ms. Peters Company. The woman ironically discovered more than the men about Mr. Wrights death. Glaspell present typical male stereotype about the women. The male characters think that women always worry about unimportant things. For example, “County Attorney: I guess before we’re through her may have something more serious than preserves to worry about. Hale: Well, Women are used to worrying over trifles” (1128). The assumption made here is prove wrong because the men think that only men are worried about important issue and women never think about the important issue but in this play women prove that
