The Trojan war is major in Greek Mythology. This war had several locations and battle tactics. Although considered a myth, there is some evidence that supports the Trojan war being factual. This war also had many important greek heroes involved. The Trojan war was fought between the Greeks and the defenders of the city of Troy during the Bronze Age. There might have been conflict between the Mycenaeans and the Hittites, but its “representation in epic literature such as Homer’s Iliad is almost certainly more myth than reality” (Cartwright). It has had a major impact on how we view the Greek culture. After a day of successful fighting, Hektor decided to lead the Trojans in an attack against the Greeks. This attack would take place at the Greeks camp. The first step for the Trojans would be to break through the gates of the camp. The Trojans quickly broke through and infiltrated the camp. The unprepared Greeks ended up running and fleeing back to their ships. While the Greeks were at their ships, Poseidon gave them encouragement. Patroklos and the Greeks were able to push the Trojan soldiers back. Patroklos ended up killing the Trojan hero Sarpedon. Achilles then advised that the Greeks stop chasing the Trojans and return to camp. Patroklos, filled with adrenaline and joy ignored this advice. Thus, the Greeks continued towards Troy. Then, Apollo decided to step in. Apollo then struck the helmet and armour from Patroklos. Apollo also shattered Patroklos spear and knocked away his shield. This left Patroklos defenseless. Euphorbos then stabbed Patroklos. However, it was not critical. Hektor then took his spear and delivered the blow, leaving Patroklos dead. Achilles was destined to revenge Patroklos death. Before Achilles could fight, he decided that he needed new body armour. Achilles mother Thetis, had Hephaistos, a master craftsman make him the greatest armour of all time. Hephaistos used gold, silver, tin, and bronze to make a shield that had earthly scenes and all the constellations on it (Cartwright). He also made a gold helmet for Achilles.
