Landon Dinger Mrs. Cardillo 250 Biology 28 October 2015 Will, the Crinoline Mushroom, resides humbly in his home in the tropical rainforest. He doesn’t need much in fact, he is well at home considering he is saprobic, and feeds by breaking down plant and organic matter. However, due to the increased rainfall his species has been on the rise despite the fact that they have a semelparity reproductive cycle and only breed once in their life span like most vegetables, and he knows that if he doesn’t get out and soon he’ll be the first one to go. You see, Will isn’t the most well liked mushroom. He towers over the others, and hogs the organic material he is very greedy and fears that if they do reach their carrying capacity he would be harvested …show more content…

He also lacks protection and the amount of animals in the rainforest could easily kill him. Will and his fellow mushrooms also don’t provide much of the rainforest they don’t provide resources because of the lack of herbivores in the rainforest so they could die off soon because of their lack of purpose. Finally Will fears that the lack of sunlight on the rainforest floor could adversely affect him and his population. Will knew he had to move away, he knew that he wasn’t safe here, but he doesn’t quite know how he's going to do that. He’s a mushroom he can’t move, he can’t call for help, he really can’t do anything. He knows that in Australia there are a lot less mushrooms just like him that will accept him and have plenty of room for a large 10 inch mushroom like him While Will wasn’t very well liked he didn’t want his species to collapse without him. He doesn’t serve a major purpose, but he does have to reproduce before he dies, and that’s just what he plans on doing to keep the population on the rise. Will releases his stink horns to attract insects and sure enough they come. He was able to serve his purpose of spreading and growing his population before he
