The next step would be to test the public water fountains and test for a high percentage of fluoride as well. Then if either of the two tested positive then i would work to change their dieting schedules then better purifying the water of fluoride. I will then gather information over the next few weeks to see if the number of students with mottled teeth would decrease.

In her song “White Teeth Teens,” Lorde addresses the popular teenagers with white teeth as their defining characteristic. These teens are the ones striving to fit the media’s ideal standards of perfection, while Lorde herself outright states “I’ll let you in on something big / I am not a White Teeth Teen.” Interestingly enough, her exclusion was self-induced, as she goes on to explain “I tried to join but never did,” meaning being a part of that group was a possibility, but it wasn’t appealing enough to join.

In White Teeth, author Zadie Smith depicts the lives of characters and their families across multiple races and generations. Smith’s characters live in a world similar to our own, or as essayist Laura Moss posits, in a realist depiction of contemporary Britain. Moss examines White Teeth not as a depiction of a utopian world, but as a highly realistic rendering of our times, in order to comment on modern perceptions of race and culture.
