The movie Troy, from Hollywood has been one of the greatest Hollywood movie ever made, it was nominated for more than 10 awards and got into the “Best of Warner Bros- 50 Film Collection”. In addition, it made approximately $497 million worldwide. It was one of the most successful films ever made. However, the content that was in the movie brought some speculation into whether or not the events of the movie were historically accurate. The purpose of this essay is to answer the question of how accurate the Hollywood movie, Troy, really was and whether it portrayed Homer’s tragic, charming side of the story or the predicted historical side.
According to the play’s story, Troy Maxson is the main character of the play. He is a bit of a complicated character. He is a very stubborn, self-centered person who lives in his own world. He created his own illusions and lived in them. Troy’s actions throughout the play are influenced by his way of thinking, broken child hood, and past mistakes.
Battle to the Death: Cinema Vs. Novel Some of the best movies are based on books. One movie based on a book is The Hunger Games. While the movie is entertaining, it is very different from the book.
Troy’s inability to commit to building his fences despite his repetitive speaking of how he is going to finish his fence shows how his isolation from his wife stems from his inability to truly commit to his wife even though he always told her he loved her. He wanted to protect his wife from the truth that he cheated on her and has a baby on the way with her but the fence prevented true communication with his own wife. Troy's inability to see the change in civil rights during his time period because of the fence led to the isolation of his mindset towards African American rights and the straining of his relationship with his son. His struggle to be accepted into playing professional sports alongside white men lead to preventing his son from playing professional football despite the changing times in civil rights. Without isolation from change, his relationship with his son could possibly be a happy one.
Books and movies are great pastimes, and many people enjoy them because they tell stories in their own unique way. But books have been proven to exercise brains, letting the reader dictate the story, while movies on the other hand,put the viewer into passive thinking, and let the director dictate the story. Take Homer’s The Odyssey, for example. It’s a perfect example of how a story delivered by a book is more effective than it’s movie counterpart.
It additionallyconveys the emotional barrier that Troy puts between them. Furthermore, Troy ruins his marriageby cheating on his wife, Rose, by having an affair with another woman named Alberta. Howeverunlike Rose, who strives to build a fence around her family, Troy attempts to evade capture in thefence. He doesn't have the capacity to understand that Rose wants to keep the family close becausehe never truly had a close family. As a result, Troy ends up driving everybody away just like hisfather.
Troy’s outlook on life is more narrow minded however, his family is more optimistic for a better future. Troy was raised by a very dominate male figure who was abusive. His father would be little him and made him like he would not be able to overcome racism. Troy despised his father who was mean and never showed him any love.
Troy is a film based on the philosopher Homers “Iliad, depicting the battle between the ancient civilisations of Troy and Sparta. This battle was brought on by the mistake of Prince Paris (Orlando Bloom) courting the Spartan king Menelaus’s wife (Diane Kruger) after a truce was accepted. Using this, king Agamemnon declared war against the Trojan empire; and in so there downfall. This film has much contradiction to whether it is reliable.
Brother, Gabriel. He shows the father and son complex in the relationship between Troy and Troy’s son, Cory. And finally he shows true friendship in the relationship between Troy and Troy’s best friend, Bono. Wilson masterfully crafts the novel to show many different types of relationships in a short three acts.

Troy is a movie that first debuted in 2004 that was based on the epic, The Iliad. There are many similarities that can be found between the Iliad and the movie Troy due to the fact the movie is based off The Iliad. Although, there are many differences that I found between these two. I am going to compare Troy and The Iliad to show how the Trojan War is portrayed in each of these. To begin, since Troy is formed from The Iliad, there are so many similarities between the two.
This paragraph is about the similarities and differences of the hercules movie and book. The Hercules movie is much different from the graphic novel, like the antagonists and the plot but, both versions have the same monster fighting hero; Hercules. For one thing in the graphic novel, Hera drives Hercules insane so he kills innocent people and Hercules is forced by a king to do 12 labors as a punishment . However in the movie Hades is sending monsters after Hercules to kill him so he can release the titans and take over as king of the gods. In the graphic novel Hercules is forced to slay monsters but in the movie Hercules wants to slay monsters to become a true hero so he can live with his father, Zeus.
Myth VS. Movie I was always told that a book is better than the movie, and in the case of Hercules I disagree. The myth, The Adventures of Hercules by Edith Hamilton and the Disney movie Hercules are two very different versions of the myth. I personally preferred the movie version of this story, because it was a lot less violent. It had a more in depth love component, and it ended with a happy ending.
The Notebook The well known romantic story, “The Notebook,” written by the novelist, Nicholas Sparks, portrays two people falling in love during the 1940s. The book was written in 1996 and the movie was released in 2004. Nicholas Sparks was inspired by a real life couple and that is why the movie is so realistic. The main characters Noah Calhoun and Allie Hamilton are played by popular young actors, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Though the book and movie are based on the same love story, they have many differences, some minor and some major.
Hercules is a greek god myth born of the almighty god Zeus. Hercules had superhuman strength, which he is now most famous for his 12 labors. And even though those 12 labors are the same they are described and done in many different ways. Which means both the graphic novel and film version of Hercules include literacy characteristics of characters, setting, and Denouement; yet both have such differences as well. For an example, in the graphic novel he goes cytopathic and kills his wife and children while in the film he gets married and doesn’t have any kids at all.
