At first, you can tell that Latifa does not want to believe that the Taliban are in her city. She then learns that the leader, Najibullah, and his brother have been hung in the town square.
When people think of someone in their family who provides for them many think of their mom or dad. Although, that is not always the case. Darry is the older brother and provider to Sodapop Curtis and Ponyboy Curtis in the book The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton. Darry’s parents died in a car accident so he was left raising his two younger brothers, which are sixteen and fourteen. Although Darry can be harsh, he still cares deeply about his brothers and their lives.
Immorality is usually seen as evil or wrong behaviour. Humans often inflict harm or exploit one another no matter the expense for personal gain. In the novel The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline, this human behaviour is demonstrated by many characters, through several events. The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline shows how acts of immorality can result from selfishness, through the experiences of Travis and Lincoln's betrayal, the recruiters' need for bone marrow, and Frenchie and his group stealing supplies. Travis and Lincoln exhibit immorality by betraying fellow First Nations for self-gain.
The main character of the book, Allison Mackenzie, came from a middle-class family that owned a home off Chestnut Street. Her mother, Constance, owned a shop in town called the Thrifty Corner Apparel Shoppe. Allison was born out of wedlock and her father was out of the picture. Constance was ashamed of this fact and hide her secret past from society. The situation surrounding Allison was an example of the time period’s denial of family dysfunction.

SPC: Captain Dearth, 1st Platoon The book “Black Hearts One Platoons Descent into Madness in Iraq’s Triangle of Death” by Jim Frederick is a true story about multiple leadership failures and six United States Soldiers from 1st Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division who were convicted for their involvement in horrible crimes while deployed to Iraq. The horrific acts including rape as well as murder committed by the soldiers of 1st platoon were a direct result of poor military leadership. Bad leadership will corrupt any military unit.

In the article, “Against Antiheroes”, Laura Bennett demonstrates the characterizations of an antihero, while providing information that allows the antihero to be depicted as prevalent. An antihero is defined as a person that does not possess heroic attributes, and may be seen as selfish, corrupt, or sullen. Antiheroes usually tend to acquire the sympathy of another individual, causing them to become relatable, as seen as Bennett writes, “‘Antihero’ implies that a character encourages a conflicted sympathy; Walt forfeited our sympathy long ago” (472). Jill Lepore’s “These Truths” provides a unique perspective on the origins of America by structuring it as a story. The 932 page book covers history beginning in the year 1492, and explains our history’s events over more than five centuries. Lepore constantly questions whether our past events have proved these ‘truths’ or deceived them. These factors allowed the author to encourage the audience to hear an alternate interpretation rather than the standard facts of the history books, and it gave a more in-depth and contingent story of how our history transformed into the America we know today. Jill Lepore has a variety of purposes, the purpose of informing, challenging, and engaging her readers.
The Beauty in Breaking by Michele Harper is a memoir about Dr. Michele Harper. In this book, she discussed the ways that systemic racism finds its way into the healthcare system. In Chapter 5, Dr. Harper tells a story of a young Black man who refused to be examined after police brought him to the hospital. Had Dr. Harper not stood up for the young man, his right to refuse treatment would have been violated. This story is an example of how Black people's rights can be violated in healthcare.
In the book Renegades by Marissa Meyer, many things happen throughout the book that many will find interesting. This story follows two main characters, Adrian Everhart and Nova Artino/Mclain. In this world, there are these people who are prodigies with superpowers that they either inherit or are born with. There is also a Council that is made of the best superheroes or Renegades, all around the city that this book takes place in and the son of the top two Council members is Adrian Everhart with their leadership skills and the ability to make whatever he draws come to life. There are also villains in this world of heroes called the Anarchists and within these villains is the niece of the formerly ruler of Gatlon City during the Age of Anarchy.
As Helen Keller once quoted, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” Laura Hillenbrand’s Unbroken tells the life story of Louis “Louie” Zamperini. Through his troubles as a child, emerged a strong-willed Olympic runner, who later became a military aviator. He was lost at sea and then captured by the Japanese as a prisoner of war. He endured years of abuse and suffering but still managed to stay true to who he was.
One can understand that corruption can be the reason for many downfalls within a country. This can be seen through many different perspectives, such as through dishonesty, fraud, or even criminality. The novel, Sula, by Toni Morrison, takes this idea to a new concept by reflecting on world wide issues that have previously occurred from around the world. It uses real life issues in order to help readers relate back to the text, and have a stronger comprehension of what the author is trying to have the readers understand. In this best selling novel, the characters convey the ways that social corruption has caused a lack of equality and human rights to be developed, and established in the society that they live in.
The patterns of trust and subsequent betrayal found in the Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, serve to teach lessons about what it was like for African Americans in post-slavery America, when the book is set. The Invisible Man trusts easily and naively. Yet, despite working hard, he is betrayed by the institutions and people he looks up to as role models as they exploit his expectations for their own agenda. Overall, there are four strong examples of those taking advantage and hurting the Invisible Man. With each incident, he learns a lesson about how blatantly the black population is disregarded, along with being given an object that represents the underlying racism found in a society.

This technology is by far one of the best things to come out of the second world war because of the impact it had on the war and the impact it has right now. The radar was the most significant military technological advancement of the second world war because it gave more information leading to effective attacks. Radar technology was the most significant advancement of the war because of its ability to detect planes and ships, make navigation for pilots more effective and efficient and it gave an early warning on incoming attacks.
