In the tragedy of “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakesphere, we see two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, denying the feud between their families, embracing feelings for one another. The two lovers are found to be constantly sneaking around and meeting up together at night when they’re away from their families. The lovers’ neediness for each other grows by the day due to the distance they must keep from each other to avoid angering their families. Their guarded love wasn’t able to be kept safe though, as their struggle to express their love openly eventually led to their downfall. In the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare develops the theme of how issues with honesty and trust can progress towards more intense complications through his characters being afraid towards expressing feelings and miscommunications taking place. In Act 5, Romeo’s servant displays the miscommunicated news of “Her body sleeps in Capel's monument,” (Act 5). To Romeo. Balthazar believed that Juliet had passed away after seeing her at her funeral as he was not aware of Friar's plan. This causes Romeo to make the impulsive decision of going to his lovely wife's grave and poisoning himself to die by her side, which could have easily been avoided with better communication. Furthermore, in act 5, the Friar urges Juliet to leave the tomb with him, but she refuses lying by the now newly poisoned and dead Romeo. Friar gets scared and expresses “I hear some noise”. Lady, come from that nest of death, contagion, and unnatural sleep” (Acts 5). as he hears some noise. The Friar gets scared and leaves Juliet in a shocking state upon realizing her lover died. This causes Juliet to also make some impulsive decisions as she had no one to guide her into making the right choice.
