Throughout the years of hip-hop artist tend to shy away from their religion . It is not done on purpose however , it does create a disconnection between the black church and the black culture. It creates this disconnection because there is a gap between the black culture and religion. Many people may feel that mainstream hip-hop is the devil’s music therefore believers in Christ should not listen to these works . Meanwhile the other side of the culture believes that hip-hop tells the true story of the streets and sometimes the streets is the church for some people because hey are able to express themselves without being judged. The significance of this quote reflect Adam and Eve eating from the tree because the two are aware they was not suppose to eat from the tree but they were awaiting for outcome. Heaven or Hell in Cole’s quote illustrates the good and evil in the book of Genesis, the couple the has brought upon themselves.The good in the text helps the two to understand they must obey God’s commands if they want to live happily. The evil in the text shows that when disobeying a higher power consequences can occur at any given time. After eating from the tree and then appearing to be naked the couple know they have done wrong so they search for fig leafs hoping God will not know about their poor decision. God said to them “ Now that the human has become like one of us, knowing the good and evil, he may reach out and take as well from the tree and live forever” (pg 161) . In Brown’s gloomy image of Adam and Eve it portrays the angel holding the fire wand. This connects to the book of Genesis the angel represents the god and evil just by being clothed in white and carrying a fire wand.
