Imagine someone waking up and they have no feeling in their body but still have the same mental state.That is what Morrie had to go through and although he is dying he wishes to teach people how to live. In the memoir Tuesdays with Morrie, Morrie teaches people to live life through showing emotions, forgiving others and not having regret. One thing Morrie teaches is that showing emotion does not have to be a bad thing. Morrie was always a touchy feely guy. When he got ALS those feelings just grew stronger and he felt for other people more. “If you hold back on the emotions-if you do not allow yourself to go all the way through them you can never get to being detached” (Albom 104). Morrie’s opinion on this topic is that he wishes he could have done more in life. “The culture does not encourage you to think about such things until you are about to die” (Albom 64). In this quote Morrie is saying that people do not realize they missed out on until they are practically dead or even to the point when they can not do it. Morrie wants people to do more and not miss out on opportunities. The way regret and this quote inflicts with me is that it happens almost everyday. I miss out on opportunities that could have been really fun or exciting. I try to be more out in the world how because of Morrie. Tuesdays with Morrie was a memoir and throughout the story, Morrie teaches us how to show emotion, forgive others and how to not feel regret. A summary of the first quote is that Morrie wants people to feel good to show emotion. In the second quote Morrie wants people to forgive and forget, to move on. In the third quote Morrie wants people to experience life to the fullest. This is all important because it is a teaching of life.
