These are songs that are spreading a message on political views through music. Music can change the way you think about something. These songs have a message in each song that they want people to be aware about so that they can make a change. Like Jimi Hendrix says, “Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen though music." In Tupac's song "Keep Ya Head Up" he talks about the problems that women are facing. He sings about how men need to treat women better. He tells women, children, and colored people to "Keep Ya Head Up" in the society we live in. This song has a positive message for everyone. At the time of the release in 1993 a girl named Latasha Harlins was shot and killed. Latasha Harlins was only fifteen years old when she was killed by Soon Ja Du, a 51 year-old Korean store owner. Harlins had gone to the store and she put an orange juice in her backpack. Du thought that Harlins was going to steal the juice so she went and confronted Harlins. They got into a scuffle and Harlins threw the orange juice on the counter and was going to leave before Du grabbed a handgun and fired at her. Du and her husband told the police that it was a holdup and Harlins had died with two dollars in her hand. Tupac Shakur then released a song entitled to Latasha Harlins. He dedicated it to the girl that was killed over an orange juice. It was also significant in history because at this time many rappers were singing songs that referred women as bitches, hoes, and sluts.
