Murder of Tupac Shakur Tupac Shakur, one of the most influential rap artists of all time, was murdered in Las Vegas. Tupac Shakur was on his way to being one of the greatest rappers of all time but his career ended short after being murdered at 25 in the year 1996 (Parales). After 27 years, there’s a suspect in the Tupac case that has recently resurfaced after they found some sort of evidence on former Southern California street gang leader, Duane Keith Davis. He has been arrested for the murder. Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in New York City on June 16, 1971 and lived until September 13, 1996 and he was the son of Afeni Shakur, according to Parales. The car was the first lead that the police could use to identify the murderer. Prior to the killing, witnesses have noticed that there was a beating that involved Tupac as he had beat up Orlando Anderson. So the “Compton gang called the Southside Crips could’ve been filing out for revenge after Tupac was involved in a beating with one of their members a couple hours before the shooting” (Phillips). This is the lead that they would first attempt to follow considering the rival that Tupac had with that gang and the fact that he beat a gang member hours before the killing. The authorities thought differently because “Orlando Anderson, the Crip whom Shakur had attacked, who was only interviewed as a suspect but was later killed in a different shooting that wasn’t related” (Phillips). The investigators had found some evidence on Davis, which then led him to confess to his involvement in the killing of star Tupac Shakur.
