Recommended: The Rise and Fall of Ottoman Turkey

A constant struggle for many is the lack of independence and oppression. The same could be said for Turkey before Mustafa’s help to get them their full independence. Mustafa fought for them in more ways than one, and led them after it was established. Turkey was originally owned by the Ottoman Turks, but was defeated by their national hero, and later president Mustafa. Turkey is full of rich culture and has many iconic structures located there. One of these being the Hagia Sophia, known for being a fundamental landmark for the Byzantine Empire. Turkey has come a long way from being controlled by the Ottomans. They struggled many hardships, but were able to overcome and accomplish much. Now standing tall and proud to represent their history. …show more content…

Everything was out of their control and the people were being oppressed. Banding together, many started to resist the leaders of the time and wished for independence. Mustafa had a huge role in Turkey’s independence. He was involved with the Young Turks, a revolutionary group that deposed the sultan in 1909. He also led the Turkish War of Independence and signed the Treaty of Lausanne. The Treaty of Lausanne was the document that made Turkey an independent republic. From a young age, Mustafa had a role in the Turkish army. When he was still young he was sent to the military academy. Once older, he held various roles in the army and battled several wars. He modernized and secularized Turkey, which helped to separate government from religion. Doing so to make sure no disputes with religious figures would happen like other past individuals in history. Mustafa also studied western governments and adopted a similar structure for Turkey. Mustafa introduced more equality for women during that time. Thinking that women were the future and not to be limited. He had such faith in women that he extended the right to vote towards them. And had a strict belief that violence should never be used unless absolutely necessary. Mustafa was a great role model and leader for Turkey. He respected teachers, women, and had the best in mind for Turkey and its people. Many ideals that he held firm in the past still being respecting and fought for
