Adolescence is a happy time as there are no worries or responsibilities. You play with the boys, like one of the boys almost as if you were a boy. You play barbie with the girls and even play dress up as a bride. Only to find yourself many years later walking down the aisle in a dress that costs more than a house down payment. Your childhood friend then, did your ‘bridal makeup’ with her moms used lipstick that had that lipstick scent that only old lipsticks possessed. Now, you have a makeup artist who has the ability to transform you into a whole different person which is its own kind of scary. The start was childhood and the finish was adulthood, but what about the middle What about that turning point in our life that sparked this metamorphosis from little girl to a full grown woman. Grete was shown earlier in the book as a young girl who was talentless and did not know any better and by the end of it she had transformed into this beautiful vibrant woman. Her metamorphosis was ignited from the pressure put on her from her working and taking care of her brother Gregor, the main character of the book who transformed into a pest. Her transition was situational. Like most, certain situations can change the way we see our lives forever.
